BUKTA VINTAGE Established in 1879 by Edward Buck, BUKTA Clothing hold bragging rights as the original sportswear brand. Initially providing a key role in military clothing production, it wasn't long before BUKTA progressed into the Sportswear arena. In 1884 production began on the first kits for Nottingham Forest Football Club. With this, the foundations for a long lasting affiliation to Sports and recreation was born. In 1907 BUKTA manufactured uniforms for the scout movement, and the famous BUKTA Campedia Camping and Outdoors range expanded the BUKTA portfolio of products into a series of diverse markets, whilst at the same time maintaining the association to it's growing sporting heritage. By 1937 the BUKTA brand was one of the most prominent sports and teamwear manufacturers in the world and the FA Cup Final of this year saw BUKTA act as the official kit supplier to the finalists. A year later BUKTA moved to larger premises in Manchester, UK. By 1943 these premises would also be deemed too small and a new factory was opened in Brinksway, Stockport. By the 1960's BUKTA supplied kit to more sporting teams than any other brand. This era gave us the iconic images of George Best wearing the famous red jersey of Manchester United which was of course supplied by BUKTA. In 1971 Johan Cruyff playing for Ajax lifted the first of three consecutive European Cups wearing BUKTA. With it's reputation sealed as a leading kit supplier for a whole host of teams through an array of sporting fields, Bukta also supplied kits for referees, and in 1974 referees and linesmen would wear BUKTA kit for the World Cup Finals. By the time of it's 100 year anniversary in 1879 BUKTA Clothing was not just reserved for team wear, and had become one of the worlds first fashion sports brands. Whether worn on the field, on the terraces or on the town, BUKTA's sporting Heritage was assured. BUKTA has also been worn by other sports and Football stars such as Jimmy Greaves and Diego Maradonna. Today Bukta is also worn by many Pop and Rock Stars such as Noel and Liam Gallagher. BUKTA even produced a limited edition range of OASIS track suit tops. BUKTA Vintage was launched in 2009 with a range of Retro style Football Shirts, Track Tops, T-shirts and the limited edition 'Made in Manchester' bag series. With a range of select Limited Edition knitwear due out in 2010 the future is bright for BUKTA Vintage.
