Atom Retro'The Amen Corner' Mojo T-Shirt
Although the Mojo was known primarily as a Mod Club, they often opened their doors - and stage - up to other Rock and Blues bands. Amen Corner are perhaps best known for their 1969 number one hit single, '(If Paradise Is) Half As Nice' - a melancholic bitter sweet cover song, released shortly after the band switched record labels from Deram to Immediate (the home of Mod music!)
Back in '67 though, Amen Corner were a fairly new band, with Blues and Jazz roots. Characteristic of the King Mojo Club which frequently booked new and unheard acts the moment before they became mega-stars, Amen Corner played their 'All Day Rave' with their first single - 'Gin House' creeping up the charts.
