Before the famous mod club King Mojo opened in Pitsmoor Road (Sheffield) in 1964, Peter Stringfellow spent time hosting live bands both at the 'Black Cat Club' (a room rented from a local vicar) and at the 'Blue Moon Club' at the 'Wicker' (an old school turned warehouse) in Johnson Street.
Stringfellow held regular Sunday night sessions at the Blue Moon and one of the acts to play live was mod, sixties band the Kinks on September 20th 1964. This became a night to remember as the Kinks had only just entered and were still riding high in the charts with mod anthem 'You Really Got Me' The Stringfellow brothers had booked the band just at the right time and a sell out was assured.
