In 1823 Charles Mackintosh developed a process for developing a truly impecable waterproof raincoat. Double texture cotton fabric consisting of two layers of cotton material, bonded together with a rubber compound and taped with rubberised cotton to create an elegant waterproof garment. Using advancements in technology Mackintosh of Ireland can now use hi-tech breathable membranes concealed between two layers of rain resistant cotton to gain the same level of quality and style.
