BEN SHERMAN HISTORY.

Founded in 1963, BEN SHERMAN was the brainchild of one Arthur Sugarman (1925-1987). After a period of residing in the States, Sugarman returned to the UK and his Birthplace, the spiritual home of Mods - Brighton! Operating out of a recently acquired shirt factory, Sugarman realised the potential for designing and creating Oxford Button Down Shirts very much like the styles he had seen during his time in the US. The Ben Sherman Originals label was born and by 1965 BEN SHERMAN had opened up a small office in a back street in London. Becoming an instant hit with the burgeoning Mod social scene, BEN SHERMAN witnessed a rapid growth and would stand the test of time with the likes of the Mod revivalists and the Skinhead subculture wearing BEN SHERMAN Originals as the shirt of choice.
