Pod Originals are back! Recently relaunched, the Mod Casuals footwear of choice, Pod Shoes are available again. Pod was founded in London in 1976. It was created in reaction to and as the antithesis of early 1970s platform shoes and flares trends. Pod was to be a casual shoe which went well with straight leg jeans, such as the Levi's 501. This is one of the reasons why Pod became so popular for Mod Casuals fashion.
The Jagger is Pod's most iconic design. First launched in 1976, the Jagger is notable for its heavy mudguard twin stitching, crepe sole and stitch-out design, which creates a versatile shoe that delivers on style, quality and comfort. The iconic silhouette of the Pod Jagger shoe has become synonymous with Casuals fashion.
The Pod name is derived from an acronym for ‘Product of Desire’. Pod strives to challenge expectations of what a British designed shoe should be, striking a balance between rich heritage and progressive fashion designs.
The Pod collection is designed in England and manufactured in Portugal; in the same factory where Pod was first produced in the 1970’s. The factory was founded in 1935 and is oldest, still manufacturing shoe factory in Portugal. Pod shoes are handmade ensuring a high degree of craftsmanship and attention to detail.
Pod releases ranges in very limited runs, so they are able to ensure the elimination of almost all wastage and only make what is required. Pod Original is committed to creating great footwear with care, using ethically and sustainably sourced materials.
