Magpie x Hornsea Pottery Rabbit Mug; part of a range of wears resulting from a collaboration between Magpie and vintage pottery brand Hornsea.

Magpie enter their seventh season of collaborating with mid-century pottery icons, Hornsea, with a fresh set of designs. Moving on from the Clappison era which inspired previous seasons, Magpie explore the work of Jack Dadd with new range, who was a freelance designer for Hornsea Pottery from roughly 1974 to 1977.

Famous for his for his popular "newsprint" style mugs featuring zodiac signs and jungle animals, such as the toucan, owl, tiger, lion, elephant, and hippo.  The latest Magpie range consists on a series of designs either directly based on Jack Dadd originals, or inspired by the great man's legacy.

Established in 1949 by Colin and Desmond Rawson, Hornsea Potteries quickly earned a reputation for inventive ceramics and distinctive design. Drawing inspiration from a wide array of artistic movements, their work defined an era of modern British homeware. While production sadly ceased in 2000, Magpie has since breathed new life into the classics, bringing Hornsea’s most celebrated creations back into circulation.
