Inspired by 1960s Modernist fashions with a hint of 60s Surf styling, the new Madcap England Wilson and Moore mod Pointelle Knitted Mock Turtleneck Tops really are a sight to behold.

The two styles, one short sleeve and one long sleeve feature a classic 1960s mod mock turtleneck collar with contrast tipping. The retro tipping is replicated on the cuffs.

The Pointelle knit fabrication and silhouette are taken from the Madcap England prototype archives. Updating a previously unreleased design, the classic mod tops are influenced by breathable fabrications that came to the forefont of British fashion and sport in the 1960s and 1970s. Aertex football tops and the classic modernist turtleneck sweater are pitched together to create the Moore and Wilson knitted tops. A perforated pointelle knit grid check design and fine gauge knit construction ensure a clean and sharp mod look. Timeless design served up in fresh colour palettes and perfect for the Spring!

The new Madcap England spring collection is inspired by abstract modern art, 1960s surf style and the music that went with it. Pulled together with a twist of psychedelia and 1970s throwback fashion, Madcap England play on the concept of 'Sound and Vision', and that's not solely a reference to the David Bowie tune of the same name. The collection takes a cue from abstract modern art, the Kandinsky theory that considers the interrelation between colour and form and how an aesthetic experience can be created that engages sight and sound. Kandinsky reversed the concept whereby music evokes images in the listeners mind by using the magic of sound. The idea that visual stimulation can also evoke sound in a person’s mind is an intriguing concept, but as fashion often follows music and vice versa, it is ideology that resonates with many.

The bold colours, mondrian-esque colour blocking and textures and silhouettes that draw inspiration from 1960s fashions are sure to encourage the wearer to consider this era, bringing to mind a favourite song and perhaps a favourite film.

We hope like us, you enjoy the vintage inspired styles that form part of Madcap England's new Spring collection.
