This Realm & Empire 'Rae' T-shirt is inspired by Utility Clothing and the CC41 stamp. The Civiliian Clothing 1941 mark (preferred to the term Controlled Commodity) featured Pac-Man like graphics instead of the normal letter 'C' perhaps to hide it's true meaning. The stamp meant the items met with the Governments austerity regulations. In terms of clothing CC41 meant garments were cut to a standard pattern and were tax exempt. The CC41 utility mark was designed for the Directorate of Civilian Clothing by the artist Reginald Shipp. It's key purposes were to conserve raw materials and to keep down the cost of reasonable quality clothing prices – as well as allowing garment workers to switch to producing armaments when needed.
