Blue and white striped '165 Oxford Street' takes it's name from the Street that gave us the original famous Marquee club (opened in 1958), before it moved to it's new home on Wardour Street. Although it is Wardour Street that is most associated with The Marquee (Hendrix played his only gig there in 1967 - The queue stretched for miles), it's at Oxford Street that the Rolling Stones played their first gig in July 1962. Brian Jones, instigator in much of the Stones early bookings was considered at that time the the most noticeable, stand out member of the Rolling Stones with a keen eye for fashion. The trademark stripey jumper - a key element of Jones' ensemble became a mod staple, is now considered an essential and iconic item of indie clothing.
